On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our apostles with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.

For this reason, We decreed for the children of Isra‘il that whoever kills a person not in retaliation for a person killed, nor (as a punishment) for spreading disorder on the earth, is as if he has killed the whole of humankind, and whoever saves the life of a person is as if he has saved the life of the whole of humankind. Certainly, Our messengers have come to them with clear signs. Then, after all that, many of them are there to commit excesses on the earth.

For that cause We decreed for the Children of Israel that whosoever killeth a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if be had killed all mankind, and whoso saveth the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind. Our messengers came unto them of old with clear proofs (of Allah's sovereignty) , but afterwards lo! many of them became prodigals in the earth.

Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors.

C'est pourquoi Nous avons prescrit pour les Enfants d'Israël que quiconque tuerait une personne non coupable d'un meurtre ou d'une corruption sur la terre, c'est comme s'il avait tué tous les hommes. Et quiconque lui fait don de la vie, c'est comme s'il faisait don de la vie à tous les hommes. En effet Nos messagers sont venus à eux avec les preuves. Et puis voilà, qu'en dépit de cela, beaucoup d'entre eux se mettent à commettre des excès sur la terre.
По этой причине Мы предписали сынам Исраила (Израиля): кто убьет человека не за убийство или распространение нечестия на земле, тот словно убил всех людей, а кто сохранит жизнь человеку, тот словно сохранит жизнь всем людям. Наши посланники уже явились к ним с ясными знамениями, но многие из них после этого преступили границы дозволенного на земле.

Por isso, prescrevemos aos israelitas que quem matar uma pessoa, sem que esta tenha cometido homicídio ou semeado a corrupção na terra, será considerado como se tivesse assassinado toda a humanidade. Apesar dos Nossos mensageiros lhes apresentarem as evidências, a maioria deles comete transgressões na terra.

Deshalb haben Wir den Kindern Israels verordnet, daß, wenn jemand einen Menschen tötet, ohne daß dieser einen Mord begangen hätte, oder ohne daß ein Unheil im Lande geschehen wäre, es so sein soll, als hätte er die ganze Menschheit getötet; und wenn jemand einem Menschen das Leben erhält, es so sein soll, als hätte er der ganzen Menschheit das Leben erhalten. Und Unsere Gesandten kamen mit deutlichen Zeichen zu ihnen; dennoch, selbst danach begingen viele von ihnen Ausschreitungen im Land.
